small world play - the nativity scene- Belén Navideñoad

Probably the biggest mistake Ive made: Christmas decoration -wise is to buy some gorgeous toy style ones - croc wants to play with them all the time.  After one particularly long nagging session I told him that Id make him some Wise Men he could play with, I´d seen some small world play nativity scenes around in the blog world and decided to give it a whirl. 

Probablemente el error más grande que he hecho en la decoración de Navidad -es más sabio comprar los productos manufacturados - Croc quiere jugar con ellos todo el tiempo. Después de una sesión persistente y  particularmente larga le dije que él iba a hacer unos Reyes Magos con los que podría jugar. Había visto algunos pequeños belenes para jugar en el mundo de los blogs y decidí darles un giro.

Saturday was a beautiful sunny winters day, a walk down by the beach was what was on the agenda for the afternoon (and ice cream for Daddy Croc and Boo).  I love to comb the beach in the winter, its full of lots of interesting things that have been washed up in the storms.  Its mostly drift wood but of all different species, shapes and sizes.
El sábado fue un hermoso día soleados de invierno, un paseo por la playa era lo que estaba en la agenda de la tarde (y helado de Daddy Croc y Boo). Me encanta caminar por la playa en el invierno mirando las  cosas interesantes que han sido arrastrados por las tormentas. En su mayoría madera a la deriva, de todas las especies, formas y tamaños

Holidays Vacaciones

We´ve been away on our holidays (I wrote a small entry before going away saying this but seems it didn´t post), life slowed down whilst we enjoyed nature at her best in the Pyrenees.  During our holidays we took a break from doing or setting up any specific activity/project for the kids and just let them play, absorb and learn in a natural way.  Im going to post about our different adventures breaking them up over the next few days.

 Hemos estado de vacaciones, la vida siguió un ritmo más lento y placentero mientras disfrutamos de la estancia en casa de nuestros amigos en los Pirineos. Durante las vacaciones no nos dedicamos a tratar de preparar actividades o proyectos para los niños, sino que dejamos que jugaran, absorbieran  y aprendieran del nuevo ambiente junto a sus amigos.  Publicaremos algunos posts con las aventuras de estos días en próximas fechas

Food and Drink.

Our first few days were spent with friends.  Their neighbours were away for the weekend and had asked them to take care of the chickens.  So off we went first thing in the morning to let the chickens out.  Croc was a bit apprehensive about getting in the chicken coup to feed and water them but after he saw his friend (who is a bit of an old hat at this!) in there he was soon in to lend a helping hand.  After refilling the water they went to the hatch to collect the eggs. Two little brown eggs were there, perfect one each! (Miraculously one even reached home intact)

Pasamos lo primeros días con amigos. Sus vecinos habían marchado durante el fin de semana y había que cuidar de las gallinas. Así que lo primero fue salir prontito de mañana a dejar salir a las gallinas (duermen en cercado para evitar al astuto zorro). Croc se cortaba para entrar en el recinto de las gallinas a echarles agua y comida, pero al ver que su amigo lo hacía  (está mucho más ducho lidiando con animales domésticos) en seguida se unió a “ayudar”. Después recogieron un huevito cada uno e incluso uno de ellos llegó sano y salvo a la casa. Bien!

With dinner sorted we went off in search of something to drink.  

Una vez solucionada la comida, fuimos a buscar algo de beber.

 The boys collecting water from a natural spring.  First in the bottle, then directly in the mouth and then... everywhere!

Los chicos recogieron agua de una fuente natural. Primero en la botella, luego en la boca y por fin … a jugar con ella y tirarla por todos lados.

On the walk back home they collected wild flowers to decorate the dinner table with.  Here they are sharing out the bunch to carry home.

Para la vuelta recogieron flores para decorar la mesa donde comíamos.
