It´s been a long time, too long in fact, since we lasted posted anything over here at Cookarlo.  Ive been wanting to get back on board for some time now but somehow lost the ryhmth. 

Ha pasado mucho tiempo, demasiado tiempo, desde nuestra ultima entrada aqui en Cookarlo.  He querido volver ya hace tiempo pero de alguna manera perdimos el ritmo y cada vez era más difícil


The word EDUCATION seems to be floating around a lot a lately.  Its back to school time and everyone keeps asking us if this year we will finally be sending the kids. 

La palabra EDUCACIÒN esta en la boca de todas ultimamente.  Ya ha empiezado la vuelta de cole y todo mundo nos pregunta si por fin este año mandamos los niños..

"Not yet, not this year.  We´re happy with homeschooling" 

"No, todavía no.  Estamos contentos con la educacion en casa"

( I mostly get a look of pity or sheer puzzlement.)

So for my own sanity I wanted to start writing up our home education adventures and share How We Learn At Home!

Asi que por mi propio salud mental queria empezar de nuevo, compartiendo nuestras aventuras educativas y en definitiva Como  Aprendemos En Casa.

small world play - the nativity scene- Belén Navideñoad

Probably the biggest mistake Ive made: Christmas decoration -wise is to buy some gorgeous toy style ones - croc wants to play with them all the time.  After one particularly long nagging session I told him that Id make him some Wise Men he could play with, I´d seen some small world play nativity scenes around in the blog world and decided to give it a whirl. 

Probablemente el error más grande que he hecho en la decoración de Navidad -es más sabio comprar los productos manufacturados - Croc quiere jugar con ellos todo el tiempo. Después de una sesión persistente y  particularmente larga le dije que él iba a hacer unos Reyes Magos con los que podría jugar. Había visto algunos pequeños belenes para jugar en el mundo de los blogs y decidí darles un giro.

The story so far....

This blog has been a long time in the making.  So here´s an overview of somethings we´ve been doing whilst we´ve been (and still are!) sorting out the blog.
Como venimos tardando bastante en controlar como funciona el blog, vamos a poner algunas cositas de las que hemos hecho durante este tiempo.

ART

Pops loves cutting and sticking at the moment, so here we are using an old cereal box to make the letter A  Como veis a Pops le encanta cortar y pegar, aqui está usando una caja de cereales para empezar con el abecedario: recortando la "A".

Aquí está garabateando con gracia.

CRAFT

We´ve just done a tidy up of the balcony which included sorting out our jungle plants, so Pops helped us out.  Recycling some broken tea cups smashed up into mosiac pieces and some shells he and Daddy blog had collected from the beach earlier that morning we decorated a flower pot.

Aprovechando una limpieza de las plantas de la terraza, le pedimos ayuda a Pops. Utilizando tazas rotas, disfrutamos un montón haciéndolas añicos para luego trabajar con ellas. Junto a los trocitos de cerámica usamos conchitas recogidas esa tarde en la playa del pueblo para decorar un tiesto.

Aquí estamos dándole caña. 

When we´d finished Pops made his own game up of pushing the mosiac pieces through the hole in the bottom of the flower pot.

Para pegarlo usamos un pegamento casero a base de harina y agua. Por fin Pops comenzó a hacer su propio juego que consistía en meter piecitas por el agujero del tiesto.

Sunny afternoons call for some time down at the beach, first we had lots of fun looking for big sticks and then up went camp!
Los días que salen soleados los aprovechamos para bajar a la playa, que a Pops le priva. Primero un poco de exploración por las partes más remotas de la arena para encontrar unas buenas maderas y a partir de ahí montar un camping.

Complete with the camp fire, Pops put his beach toys under the fire and prepared dinner.

Aquí preparando la cena: primero hace una buena pila de madera para el fuego, luego coloca un juguete de plástico llenito de rica arena y a cocinar.

Un poco más de camping, ahora en el salón.

 Yes its camping again, wholly inspired by Peppa Pig Camping episode!!
Ponemos dos sillas de postes y una manta para hacer de lona y a disfrutar como sus dibujos favoritos de las últimas semanas.

He made a lovely camp fire and cooked some spaghetti for dinner.
Más fogata de camping con sus maderos y su instrumentos de cocina para preparar algo de comer.

When he´d tired of the tent he put the two chairs together  to make a car, he even made the boot of the car by putting the rug at the back and filling it with the blocks and cooks set we´d used.  Loved the detail.

Cuando se cansó de jugar en la tienda, puso las dos sillas juntas para fabricarse un coche : incluso hizo el maletero poniendo una alfombra en la parte de atrás y llenándolo con los bloques y los utensilios de cocinas que había usado. Y a disfrutar del automovil!
