Outdoor Adventure- Vamos al Parque!

A new adventure playground has been built near us, so we finally decided to go check it out.  We love going to playgrounds and are lucky as we have lots of really good (small) ones all within walking distance, this one is further away but has the added extra excitment of being brand spanking new and much bigger than the local ones.
Acaban de construir un parque infantil nuevo cerca de casa, así que esta semana por fin nos hemos acercado a probarlo. Nos gusta pasar mucho tiempo en los parques sobre todo cuando llega el buen tiempo. En el pueblito hay bastantes a corta distancia de casa, aunque son bastante pequeños. Este nuevo está más lejos pero es bastante grande y tiene un montón de cosas nuevas para explorar.

A well built playground is an amazing space for outdoor play.  Young children need to developed their gross motor skills (the large muscles) and what better way than, running, climbling, swinging and sliding down head first!  Many playgrounds also feature stuctures such as boats, trains, houses, that inspires and encourages creative imagination, after 10 minutes in the playground we´d already gone on a trip overseas on the train picked up several family members and then run away from the crocodiles in the sea below us!  Children also learn to test and develop their own sense of self (physically and emotionally), can I cross the climbing frame, or climb the ladder, run up the slide??  An outdoor playground also develops and creates a lot of social interaction, from the very simple see-saw to the creative imagination play that goes off in the purpose built structures (houses/trains etc) .  All this from just a simple trip down to the local park.
Un parque infantil bien construido es un espacio estupendo para el juego al aire libre. Los niños tiene que desarrollar sus capacidades motoras gruesas (los músculos más largos) y  correr, escalar, columpiarse o descender por el tobogán son buenas maneras de hacerlo. Muchos parques cuentan con estruturas como barcos, trenes o casas que ayudan a desarrollar la imaginación creativa; tras unos minutos en el parque ya nos vamos en un viaje al extranjero recogiendo a algunos familiares y al rato hay que escapar de los cocodrilos que infestan el mar a nuestro alrededor... Los niños también aprenden a chequear y desarrollar su sentido de si-mismo (física y emocionalmente): ¿puedo cruzar la red sin caer al suelo? ¿subir por el tobogán? ¿escalar por esa escalera vertical? En un parque también siempre hay cantidad de interacción social, desde el balancín que necesita dos niños al juego más simbólico e imaginativo que sucede en las estructuras cuando inventan historias o aventuras inéditas. Todo ello y más puede aparecer en una simple visita al parque de al lado.....

También la peque empieza a recorrer las grandes atracciones de los parques, todo es nuevo y muy excitante para ella.
